For those that are interested in riding in the Gold Nugget Parade(either on the float or on horse), here is info you need: Friday April 22nd: We are having a parade practice at the arena at 12:30pm for all those interested in riding in the parade on Saturday. If your horse has never been in a parade or you are unsure how your horse will react to parade stimulus...you need to come to this practice. We will be doing a few maneuvers inside the arena, walking in pairs, and then we will take a quick ride up the bike path to expose horses to all the sights and sounds of Paradise. We will also need help to decorate the float Friday afternoon after parade practice. Please bring any "western" props you may have...saddles, boots, wagon wheels, old lanterns, ropes, etc...(everything will be returned to you after the parade) Saturday: We will be meeting at the Old Wilson's Printing Shop at 816 Elliott Road at 9am. Please do not be late! The float will also be there for those wishing to ride on the float. All participants riding horses must have a red shirt and black pants. We will be applying ribbons and glitter to your horses. Please be sure to bathe your horses on Friday, weather permitting. We all need to leave Elliott no later than 10:15am together and head towards the Parade Staging area on Center Street(Behind Dutch Brothers). Saturday after parade: We will need help at arena to set-up for the Horse Festival. We need to take down the float decorations, set-up hay bales for seating and set-up panels for horses. Horse Festival: Sunday April 24th. Please plan on joining us as we celebrate Gold Nugget Days at the arena. We need as many PHA members as possible to come and volunteer a little time. Festival begins at 11am. If you would like to help...please arrive by 10am. Durham Mayday Parade May 7th: We will once again be wearing red shirts and black pants. Please have horses bathed the night before. We need to be in Durham, at the school bus barn area by 8:30am. Parade begins at 10am and is short and sweet. And finally...if you are planning on riding in the parades, please send me an email to confirm that you will be riding on the float or on a horse. We need to know how many to expect to make sure we have enough ribbons and glitter for horses.
